Om jobbet

Background:

Connected vehicles are revolutionizing the automotive industry, promising enhanced safety, efficiency, and driver experience. Connectivty through cellular networks has become the main communication interface for these vehicles. Quick adapation of technologies (5G) and further

deprecation of older technologies (2G, 3G) in the area are becoming a challenge to keep up with in terms of evaluation, development and testing.

Software-Defined Radios (SDRs) are the key of unlocking the full potentional of connected vehicles.

By simulating real-world conditions, SDRs enable comprehensive testing of:

- Cellular network performance

- Security against cyber threats

- Remote services

- Automatic emergency services (eCall)

Scope:

Implement and evaluate an automotive cellular network testbed based on the srsRAN project (https://www.srslte.com/) using a software defined radio.

Challenges:

1. Set up and evaluate a private 4G/LTE network simluation capable of interacting with a connected

vehicle

2. Explore the possibilities of eCall simulations within the network

3. Expand the simulation toward 5G.
