Finnlines is a leading and growing shipping company in the Nordics, ensuring good freight and passenger connections from Finland and Sweden to the rest of Europe. We have been investing in our fleet for many years and as the most recent investment the two new eco-sustainable ro-pax vessels, NextGen Superstars, were delivered in 2023 and 2024.
We are now looking for a motivated Technical Superintendent to join our Technical Ship Management team on a permanent basis. As Technical Superintendent you will be responsible for designated ro-ro or ro-pax vessels owned and operated by Finnlines. In this position you will report to the Technical Managers and can be based at our headquarters in Helsinki or at our office in Malmö.
As a Technical Superintendent, your primary focus will be to ensure and oversee the technical and operational condition of the designated vessels, ensuring their safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards by collaborating with skilled professionals both onboard and onshore. You will also participate in and manage assigned development projects, such as vessel upgrades and projects aimed at improving environmental efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a maritime professional with sea-going experience, preferably on ro-ro or ro-pax vessels. To succeed in this role, you must have good knowledge and understanding of the technical and operational aspects of the maritime industry. You should be comfortable communicating with various stakeholders and perform well under pressure. You should also have:

- Technical Superintendent for designated vessels assisting onboard personnel with maintenance, dockings and repairs
- Participating in and managing development projects
- Budget planning and follow-up, including budgeting of dry dockings
- Overall responsibility for repair budgets including approval of the ships’ technical spares and work requisitions in accordance with company procedures
- Ensure vessels comply with rules and regulations
- Damage handling
- Serving as a contact person for suppliers and subcontractors
- Participating in ship modifications and conversions
- Acting as a member of the alarm group

- A proactive and independent approach with a hands-on attitude
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships effectively
- Strong IT skills, including confident use of the common MS Office products
- Fluent English is mandatory, while proficiency in Finnish or Swedish is considered an asset
