Job Purpose:
To design HIP furnace hardware for Bodycote world-wide, including drawing them in CAD and using fluid & thermo-mechanical engineering analysis tools to ensure performance criteria are achieved. Working with global internal customers, manage engineering projects with suppliers to turn designs from costed proposals to fully manufactured and commissioned solutions. In addition, design of non-load bearing parts of the HIP system such as spare parts, load baskets, lifting tools etc.

Job Purpose:

Key Responsibilities:
- Produce 2D/3D designs of furnaces & sparable items for Europe & USA HIP sites
- Product design data management, update CAD system and databases when needed
- Produce cooling and electrical diagrams, reverse engineering legacy hardware
- Analysis using our design programs & FE system
- Design review of own & colleagues work, e.g. potential failure modes
- Writing design programs, and continually improving existing ones as required
- Technical support to Operations & suppliers
- Produce engineering packages for quotation, and follow them up
Qualifications / Skills and Experience:
- Degree in thermo-mechanical design engineering or similar or equivalent experience
- Experience working with tooling, components and assemblies used in high temperature environments
- Experience working with heat treatment, gas handling, & electrical systems
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PDM & 3D CAD software (ideally SOLIDWORKS)
- Experience of risk reduction techniques like DFMEA an advantage
- Good team player with collaborative attitude and a flexible approach
- Self-motivated, organised and able to work under pressure to a schedule
- Good problem solving skills, taking into account input from others with different viewpoints
