Your role

As a DBA, you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of databases in the program landscape. This includes:

• Installation and configuration of database systems
• Performance monitoring and optimization to ensure data is readily available for users
• Security by implementing access controls and user permissions
• Backups and recovery to safeguard against data loss
• Disaster recovery planning to minimize downtime in case of emergencies
• Database design and modeling to ensure data is organized efficiently
• Troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise
• Communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

Required Skills

• Good Understanding of Database Knowledge: Proficiency in SQL, performance tuning, security measures, backup, and recovery. (Good to Have, Open Learn)
• Kubernetes Expertise: Experience in managing databases within Kubernetes environments, including configuring pods, services, and persistent storage.
• Containerization with Docker: Ability to create, manage, and optimize Docker containers for database applications.
• Infrastructure as Code: Experience with tools like Terraform or Ansible to automate the provisioning and management of database resources.
• Problem Solving: Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues that arise in database environments, especially within Kubernetes and Docker.
• Communication and Leadership: Competency in communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leading projects and teams.
