The Opportunity:Avantor is currently looking for a hands-onResearch Technician Histologyto join the team inMölndal, Gothenburg. This Research Technician supports scientific teams and proactively ensures that sectioning, staining, registration, documentation and archiving tasks are carried out with high-quality standard. 70 to 80% of your work is lab-based, the other 20 to 30% goes to administration and documentation. This role is a full-time, permanent position, based at our customer site, AstraZeneca, in Mölndal. Working hours
Monday - Friday, start time is between 6:00 - 9:00 and finish time 15:00 - 18:00
The team
This Research Technician Histology is part of a team that counts 10 associates and belongs to our department Lab & Production Services, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What we're looking for
- Education: Scientific related degree is required, such as BMA (Biomedical Assistant), (Molecular) Biology or similar
- Experience:
- Basic knowledge of sectioning or in histology is desirable, though not required as you can get trained internally
- Experience in a laboratory is a plus
- Preferred qualifications
- Good skills of MS Office
- Effective communication skills in English; Swedish is a plus
- Soft skills
- Patient, detailed oriented and able to work with high focus and concentration
- Eager to learn
- Some flexibility is required, as you need to collaborate with multiple partners
- Highly organized, structured and strong administrative skills
How you will thrive and create an impact
- Sectioning and staining of tissues, cell
- Scan slides and archive samples
- Take care of the registration and shipment of samples
- Assist in inventory and preparation of reagents and supplies
- Support the maintenance of the lab, keeping the laboratory at a high standard to secure a safe working environment
- Support and collaborate with Lab managers and Technicians in their day-to-day work
- Communicate with the scientists to identify issues in the lab, and find opportunities for improvements
- Support visits of external suppliers, trainings, and demos of products and equipment
