Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

As a successful Regional Sr. Datacenter Technician (Logistics), your success is measured by:
  • Learn, Live, and coach the One Microsoft culture and values. Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success across the EMEA Region.
  • Empower a culture of safety and security in global datacenter operations by complying with CO+I's safety programs and policies and completing compliance knowledge assessments.
  • Develop positive working relationships with campuses across the EMEA Region, internal teams, and external stakeholders.

As a successful Senior Datacenter Technician (Logistics), your day-to-day work will include:
  • Support break/fix activities of on-site datacenter physical devices and infrastructure from a local home campus and travel to support break/fix activities across the EMEA Region. These activities can include, but are not limited to:
    • Install, Replace and Troubleshoot Cables and Hardware.
    • Handle data bearing devices (ex. Hard drives, solid state drives, etc.).
    • Work within a ticket-based environment.
    • Handle movement of equipment using pallet jacks or other assisted lifting equipment.
    • Perform shift-based tactical management tasks such as prioritizing ticketing queues, resolving escalations, and clearing blocking issues to enable continued delivery of Technician activities in accordance with Microsoft's internal polices and service level agreements.
  • As required, assist Datacenter Inventory and Asset Management Team (DIAT) with shipping/receiving and inventory management to address high work volumes.
  • As required, assist with deployment activities both at home campus and throughout the EMEA Region.
  • As required, assist with post RNI (Ready Network Install) activities, such as the installation of core network and assist with bringing up a new datacenter, at both new and existing campuses.
  • As required, participate in regional and global virtual teams (v-teams) to create new processes and procedures as well as continuously improve existing items.
  • As required, manage 3 rd party vendors both at your home campus and in the EMEA Region to assist in completion of special projects.
  • As required, assist with onboarding and training of new DCTs both at your home campus and in the EMEA Region.

For this role, you are welcome to apply if you meet the followingRequired Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • Good experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
    • Note: Candidates for this role will not travel until Microsoft has determined that it is safe, given the current pandemic.

While not required, we also look for the followingPreferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in one or more technician roles within a hyperscale datacenter (Break/Fix, Deployment, Inventory & Asset Management).
  • Applicable certifications: CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
  • Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights with or without equipment assistance.
  • Basic working knowledge of Data Center Environments (e.g. Power Redundancy, PDUs, Cooling, etc.).
  • Able to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient in written and oral English communication to support regional and global teams.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and develop new technical skills.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
